Nikki Smithson is a 2007 graduate of Ball State University where she received a bachelors degree in
Theatrical Studies. Nikki's love of musicals started at the age of ten when she saw a production of
Les Miserables. From then on she was in as many shows as possible. Some of those shows and roles include:
Elsa Shrader: The Sound of Music, The Narrator: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Dancer: The
Reindeer Monologues, Louise: Gypsy, Babe Willams: The Pajama Game, The Sour Kangaroo: Suessical The Musical,
Cinderella: Into the Woods, and Lucy: Jekyll & Hyde. She has also performed in productions of: South Pacific,
Annie Get Your Gun, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Sweeney Todd. Of all the shows that Nikki has been in
Sweeney Todd has been the most rewarding. During this show she was introduced to Dimitri Toscus a director
from Los Angeles. Dimitri has worked for The Walt Disney Company, The Virginia Opera, and The Cleveland Opera.
He has also worked with film director Garry Marshal (director of The Princess Diaries 1 & 2). Nikki's classes
at Ball State also allowed her to work with many accomplished actors such as Dwandra Nickole Lampkin and Beth
Turcotte. These two women had an enormous impact on Nikki, not only as a student but also as an actor. They
helped her know what it means to be a great actor and also what it means to be a good and effective teacher!
Nikki is very excited to start sharing her knowledge and love of theatre with the students at CSA. She wants
to thank her family and her fiance Eric for always being supportive of her dreams no matter what or where they
take her!
