Coda (Real name: Joshua Rowlett, born on 20 December 1977 in Indiana) is a B-boy(also known as Breakdancer).
As of 2009, he has won more competitions than any other Bboy in the State of Indiana, and has been termed
"The best B-Boy in Indiana". His accomplishments include both an Out For Fame Midwest title (2002) and two
Scribble Jam titles (2001/2002). He also has judged and done workshops all across the United States.
The name Coda derives from the definition: the closing section of a musical composition. He feels the true
closing section of a musical composition is not the end of the musical piece. But more so, that of which is
expressed through a dancer's body. Therefore, making the "true" coda of music the dancer"s expression or
interpretation of that specific musical piece.
Coda was in the crew Motion Disorderz (with which he won the Out For Fame and Scribble Jam titles in 2001/2002)
and is currently in a crew called Weaponz of Rhythm.
Coda is recognized as a superb all-around b-boy able to dynamically hit beats with floorwork, freezes, toprock
and powermoves - not to mention the rare ability to mix all of them in a set. His breakin features explosive
floor work, sharp execution, and an arsenal of signature moves. These all showcase not only the complex nature
of his dance, but also his creativity.
He first started Hiphop dancing at the age of 5 years old. He learned numerous styles from New Jack Swing to
Freestyle to Breakin. He has been Breakin for over 17 years and has performed with various groups such as
The Black Eyed Peas. He has also judged many competitions across the United States. He has been teaching
Breakin for over 10 years and is the proud Co-Owner of Fort Wayne Hip-Hop Dance.
