Bruce has been involved in the Martial Arts since 1969. He currently holds a 5th degree Black Belt in Judo
and a 4th degree Black Belt in Jujitsu. Bruce is a Life Member of the United States Judo Association and
a member of USA Judo. He is a certified National Level Instructor/Coach, National Rank Examiner, Regional
Referee, and Kata Instructor.
Retiring after 21 years of service as a Police Officer with the City of Marion, Indiana, Bruce has taken
over as the Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security for Grant County, IN.
Bruce is an ILEA firearms expert and past "Top Gun" winner for the Marion Police Dept.
Bruce developed and was in charge of the Defensive Tactics Program at the Police Dept prior to his retirement.
From 1993 through his retirement in 2005 he was Law Enforcement Academy certified in the instruction of
Defensive Counterstrikes, Pressure and Motor Points, Handcuffing techniques, Handgun Retention and the use of
Impact Weapons. Now he is a consultant for local law enforcement agencies.
Bruce is a past Georgia State Champion, 2x Indiana State Champion, and 2x Masters National Champion. Bruce placed
5th in the World Masters Championships in 2005. Bruce was the 2005 USJA Sr. Men "Player of the Year" for Indiana.
He is also a past recipient of "Indiana Coach of the Year" for Indiana Judo.
Bruce is an authorized trainer with the Center for Domestic Preparedness and a certified instructor with the Indiana
Law Enforcement Training Board. He is also a CPR intructor and First Aid instructor for the American Red Cross.
