Communication Arts Video Wins Telly Award

March 27, 2007 Taylor Universitys communication arts department has won a 2007 Bronze Telly Award for a promotional video produced for Taylors Center for Research & Innovation (CR&I). According to Kathy Bruner, assistant professor of communication arts, the Telly Awards can be silver or bronze and honor the best in local, regional and cable television as well as the best in video and film production. "This is a great honor for Taylors communication arts department. Tellys are one of the most prestigious production awards to win, outside of the Emmys, said Bruner, who produced and wrote the video. Sophomore communication arts/media major Jason North was a videographer and editor for this project, which was shot in high definition. "This award puts us in good company, said John Bruner, a faculty member in the communication arts department, who did lighting and videography on the project. "Other Telly winners this year include CNN, Comedy Central and The History Channel. We couldnt be happier. The video was designed to tell prospective students about the mission of Taylor Universitys Center for Research & Innovation (CR&I). The Telly is the second award for this project. It won an Aegis Award in 2006. The award marks another milestone for Taylors communication arts department, which has seen its enrollment grow by 30% in the past two years. Several video projects have won awards and the client list for the department includes the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Legacy of Truth, Atlanta, Ga. Jim Garringer
